Henry Hudson: Explorer Gazette

June 1610-1611

In 1610 Henry Hudson was sent to find the Northwest Passage.  Hudson sailed off to northern Canada on a ship called Discovery.  When his crew discovered a 450-mile-long passage they thought they had found the Northwest Passage, sadly it wasn’t,but would later be called the Hudson Strait.  The strait led to a bay, later called Hudson Bay, while Hudson and his are in the bay it freezes the Discovery to the bay.  Hudson and his crew spent a long hard winter in a log cabin.  Finally in 1611 when it got warmer they set sail again. His crew thought he was going home, but when they found out they were still looking for a Northwest Passage they through him and a few other loyal crew members on a boat and was never heard from again.  What I think happened was that he washed up on an island and lived the rest of their live there.
